Open Directory Project (ODP) is open content directory from directory.mozilla.org. This was its original domain name too. As the name indicates, it is maintained and developed by group of volunteer developers and editors. It is also known as DMOZ. DMOZ, uses hierarchical ontology for listing sites and also has been in the market from last 10 years. That’s the very logical reason to justify the need of making your website listed in DMOZ. As DMOZ follows very strict policy and procedures for listing the website, it is very hard to get your website listed at DMOZ. Some tips that can help you for getting listed in DMOZ are as below. Make sure that your website is functional and don’t submit your website if it is under construction. DMOZ is not going to accept any website. It should be fully functional. Make sure that you are putting your proper address, just putting up an email address for a business doesn’t really make much of a sense now days. Customer should be able to get in touch with you at any physical address or at the very least should be immediately able to speak to you over phone. Ensure that your website is looking professional and is free of anything which will count in against of it, like spelling errors. Make sure that you submit your website at DMOZ only once, and wait for accept or reject. For DMOZ follows a queue system and moderators are less in number you have to be patient to see if you are accepted or denied. Applying repeatedly without waiting for your last decision will only slow down your process for every time you apply your website goes at the end of the queue. These are just few tips for getting your website accepted. Remember, all that you need is a good quality website serving and justifying its “about us” and domain name and lot of patience from your side.If you need a free directory ,please click on the links in this article.
